#IFM2026 | Special Session: Global Black Feminisms and Interactivity

This special session was part of the #IFM2026 Conference – 8th Interactive Film and Media Virtual Conference – June 9-12, 2026. moderated by by Ar Ducao (NYU, USA) with the participation of Alma Jam (MIT, USA) Cam Mbayo (Artist, USA) Myrtle Henry Sodhi (Artist, Canada) Sheetal Magan (Filmmaker, Canada) In our era of accelerating techno-colonialism, and in the North American historical context of indigenous genocide and transatlantic slavery, Black feminist scholarship is an important framework for understanding the inequities that undergird interactive technology and technical systems. Global Black Feminisms will present new and ongoing interactive projects by feminists of colour from Africa and the larger diaspora.
