How to Make a Flemish Twist Bowstring. My First Three-Ply Bowstring. DIY Bowstring. No special tools or jig needed! All my bowstrings have been two ply - until now. I make my first single loop Flemish Twist three-ply bowstring using Brownell Dacron B and show you how I did it. In this video I make an oversize and extra long three-ply string which I will use when tillering my next bow - but the string dimensions, strand-count and loop size can be altered to make a string for most any bow. I use no special tools or jig and show that it is possible to make a useable three-ply string using just your hands. I demonstrate the twist and fold method of counter-twisting bundles of Dacron B50 which is the basis of this string.
