The US military uses sea drones in combat for the first time in history: three Corsair unmanned surface vessels strike the Bandar Abbas naval base. Corsairs hit a submarine and ship maintenance facility in southern Iran The Ghadir-class Iranian midget submarine is visible in CENTCOM strike footage. Corsair is a 24-foot autonomous drone carrying 1000 pounds of explosives. The Corsair has a range of 1000 nautical miles and a speed of 40 mph. Saronic Technologies, founded in response to Ukraine's sea drone success, has produced at least 300 corsairs as of May 2026. Task Force 59 began fielding Corsairs in West Asia in March 2026, the same Corsair that previously rescued the Apache crew shot down near Hormuz.
