New render, design tokens & 100+ Improvements | What's new | Penpot release 2.16

Juan de la Cruz, Designer at Penpot, walks us through what's new in Penpot 2.16. This release introduces WebGL rendering (beta), designed to improve performance when working with large and complex projects, including design systems, multi-page files, and boards packed with components and effects. Design Tokens now appear directly in the Design sidebar, right alongside the controls you already use, making token-based workflows faster and more intuitive by reducing the need to switch between panels. Beyond these headline features, Penpot 2.16 delivers more than 100 updates, focused on making everyday design work smoother and more enjoyable. A huge part of those improvements comes from the Penpot community (thank you!) , with contributors delivering an exceptional number of quality-of-life enhancements and workflow refinements.
