The Grand Canyon Detour That Changed Our Route 66 Trip
After a week of driving Route 66 across California and Arizona, we decided to take a 24-hour detour to visit one of the most iconic places in America: Grand Canyon National Park. Was it worth leaving the Mother Road behind? In this video, we’re sharing our experience exploring the South Rim, visiting some of the canyon’s most scenic viewpoints, hiking and showing what a quick Grand Canyon detour looks like during a Route 66 road trip. This is part of our journey driving Route 66 backwards from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois in our truck camper.
