When I was eight, and playing Gran Turismo on the original Playstation, the Mitsubishi GTO was by far my favourite car. I loved the looks, and the fact it seemed genuinely exotic. In my eyes, it was right up there with the McLaren F1 for desirability. However, as I grew older I learned that most who drove the real GTO - or 3000GT as it was known in the UK - didn't find much to love about it. They were heavy, and packed with complicated systems that liked to break.
