Alice Iacobescu presented us with her life's path between failure and victory, in a world so easily bought. The fact that what happened and is happening to our lives is not luck, it is not a coincidence but a choice for which we must assume the merit, or the blame. Alice encouraged us not to wait for opportunities, but to go to meet them. Alice took the TEDxCluj stage to convey to us that in a world so easily shaped and bought, you can CHOOSE something else and that the fact that you don't make a choice is still a choice. Alice Iacobescu is one of the most respected radio and television journalists, with almost 30 years of experience in the media. A breaking news anchor, Alice stood out for her incisive but balanced style of live interviews. You have probably seen her, over the years, in the spotlight, on various televisions or you recognize her voice on the radio. Alice would have been a very meticulous accountant, if it weren't for the regime change in December 1989. She was preparing for admission to the ASE, when she found out, by chance, that there was a journalism faculty. Immediately, she abruptly changed her preparation, from mathematics and economics, to Romanian, geography, history and French – the subjects in which the Journalism exam was given at the time. Alice had the chance to make inspired career choices, but she knows that not everything is down to luck.
