These flat speakers were born from the meeting of two men who were both passionate about acoustics: Gilles Douziech and Eric Poix. From their first prototype made in 2001 as part of a contemporary art exhibition, they experimented with different materials, shapes, components and assembly methods to develop a high-end speaker at the service of musical emotion. A result of their aesthetic and sound high standards, each Diptyque is an exceptional handcrafted object. Since his adolescence, Gilles Douziech has been passionate about loudspeakers and high fidelity sound. At 19, while studying electronics, he decided to cross France to undertake an internship with Marcel Rochet, designer of Mulidine speakers. This passionate acoustician taught him fundamental notions about harmonic resonances but also about distribution filter design. Following this experience, Gilles continued studying and took an internship at the acoustic laboratory of Toulouse University. Without ever ceasing to conceive loudspeakers, he achieved a ten-years career in medical electronics at the hospital. He then specialized in ultrasound and got trained by the largest companies: Hewlett Packard, Siemens, Philips and General Electric. Later, he decided to start teaching and it is at that time that he created his first ribbon loudspeakers to broadcast his creations in contemporary art exhibitions. His meeting with Eric Poix was going to become crucial for the development of the high fidelity DIPTYQUE AUDIO speakers. As a high-fidelity lover for more than 25 years, Eric Poix has never ceased to improve his listening system, constantly looking for great musicality without giving into fashion and tricks. His skills and know-how in mechanics and ironwork led him to create great quality Hi-Fi loudspeaker and electronics stands with both acoustic and aesthetic assets. Thanks to him, the Diptyque speakers are equipped with a very sophisticated mechanical structure that makes them extremely rigid. The tension of the membrane is thus perfectly mastered: an essential aspect to ensure the acoustic quality of these flat speakers. ​ « Our loudspeakers are entirely manufactured in our workshops in Montauban (France). Like instrument makers, we assemble each element of our models manually, which requires a great thoroughness and a unique know-how in order to guarantee an irreproachable quality.
