At the time of her disappearance, Rita Mónika Bán-Gagyi, then 40 years old, was working in Austria as a pastry chef at a hotel. She had planned a program for her day off on September 4, 2013. On September 9 at 2:45 PM, a witness appeared at the Heiligenblut Police Station and reported that on September 4, 2013, around 7:45 PM, they had seen the missing Rita in Heiligenblut, in the Bauhof area, approximately 200–300 meters from the accommodation. According to the witness, Rita was standing by the roadside near the door leading to one of the village’s public restrooms. Since then, nothing has been known about her. Instead of answers, Rita’s mysterious disappearance has only raised further questions, and the family’s pain was deepened by additional blows — including the actions of a con artist. Yet even now, at the end of 2025, hope still remains that the truth will finally come to light. What happened to Rita? Where did she go?
