Gary Husband - Demos of music for Gary Husband & The Orbital Band Part 5

Another rough home demo of mine for the Orbital Band repertoire - this time showcasing a medley. I don’t really ever do literal covers of pieces, but in the case of two of them included here I’ve made an exception and kept quite close to the originals. The Bacharach however, is a new design on that wonderful composition I’ve loved for so many years. The medley features “Anyone Who Had A Heart” as an intro and an ending. The two covers are pieces that have some personal meaning to me. The “Desire & The Comforter” we ran it once and played with an idea of performing it live with John McLaughlin & The 4th Dimension but for whatever reason we didn’t do it. In the case of “Red Alert” it’s a tune I did play live with Allan Holdsworth and Jimmy Haslip on the final tour I did with Allan, so there are personal connections with with the both of them. The fact I’ve always enjoyed them as pieces made me all the more want to feature them, but there’s also the fact they serve as a little tribute to Allan and John respectively. The band will certainly perform this little suite live and record it! 🙂
