Gukesh was simply helpless to Magnus and his slowly mounting pressure, which in the end was too much for the World Champion to handle! In the game Magnus Carlsen opens 1.Nf3 2.g3, heading straight for the King’s Indian Attack setup. In response Gukesh D traded his light-squared bishop for Carlsen’s knight on f3 and sent for the famous “pawn triangle” formation with his so-called bad light-squared bishop traded off. However, this normally good idea turned out to be his demise in this game, as Magnus Carlsen put on an absolute masterclass in how to use and “work” the bishop pair throughout the opening, middlegame, and endgame!
