Sterile gloving nursing technique- learn how to don sterile gloves or how to put on sterile gloves. Sterile gloves are worn for various procedures such as Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing change, subcutaneous port access etc. Donning sterile gloves prevents the transfer of organisms to a patient that could lead to infection. As a nursing student, you will be tested on your ability to don sterile gloves. In this video, I quickly demonstrate the technique on how to put on sterile gloves. Before donning sterile gloves always perform hand hygiene. Then select the correct size of gloves. Sterile gloves come in various sizes such as small, medium, large or in number sizes. So, be sure to select the correct size for comfort and to prevent the risk of the gloves tearing.
