To begin with, this is the second oldest city in all of Argentina. Destroyed and rebuilt numerous times due to the Calchaquí Wars, Londres is also a major producer of handcrafted textiles and nuts. But there is something more, something that stands out above all else: El Shincal. El Shincal is a unique archaeological site in the country that transports us to ancient times when the indigenous peoples dominated the territory. The true original inhabitants were the Diaguitas, who were invaded by the Incas, and later by the Spanish until they disappeared. El Shincal today bears witness to this civilization and its transformations; it is a Diaguita and Inca footprint in beautiful Catamarca, part of our history as Argentinians.
