Finally Out KUDLA Express | Mangalore - Bangalore Train | Indian Railways

Mangalore - Bangalore KUDLA Express the train that was announced back in 2014 finally rolls on the Tracks after clearing several hurdles. Catch the inaugural run of the Kudla Express being flagged off from Mangalore Junction (Kankanady) Railway Station. The train takes a much shorter route to Bangalore post commissioning of the new Bangalore - Hassan Line via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Yediyur & Shravanabelagola. Kudla Express is a Tri-Weekly Train running on alternate days to the 16515/16516 Yesvantpur - Karwar Tri-Weekly Express which still runs on its original long route via Tumkur , Arsikere & Hassan. Introduction of the train comes after persistent struggle, including filing of a PIL writ petition before the High Court of Karnataka by Udupi Rail Yatri Sangha president R.L. Dias. South Western Railway had undertaken before the court to run the train by March 31. SWR had been constantly delaying to start this train due to operational Constrains in the ghat section and also due to the Hassan - Mangalore Railway Development Corporation not allowing additional trains between Sakleshpur and Subhramanya Ghat Section. Further problems with zone borders Mangalore falling under the Palghat Division of Southern Railways, its still a concern to the Coastal Karnataka people as the train is not starting and terminating from the Mangalore Central City Railway Station due to non availability of Platforms and their struggle demanding to merge Mangalore with SWR or Konkan Railways continues.
