He signed a contract in 2024, convinced by the promises of quick money, easy service conditions and "safe work somewhere in the rear". In reality, he ended up in an assault unit formed from conscientious objectors, convicts and guys who were forced to sign a contract right after their conscription. The hero admits: there was no real training - just a few weeks of training, formal classes and promises from the command that he would "not be thrown to the front". The equipment was at his own expense. Drones, fuel, uniforms, even generators - everything was bought by them, because the Ministry of Defense either gave nothing or gave rubbish. Any mistake, a lost drone or a conflict with the commander - and you are transferred to the assault. In his unit, he saw chaos and the complete devaluation of human life: drug addicts and alcoholics who were caught drunk and signed a contract; mobilized soldiers going to the assault on crutches; convicts who were shot by their own people for trying to retreat. For refusing to carry out an order - beatings, prison or "zeroing". On the day when his column was sent to storm another village, everything ended instantly: drones, cluster bombs, injuries. Realizing that the way back meant death from his own people, he ran out onto the road, raised his hands, and surrendered to the Ukrainian Mavik. It was here that he first realized that reality had nothing to do with Russian propaganda. He says bluntly: Russia is attacking peaceful villages, not “liberating” them; fascism is on the other side of the border from which he came; and all the stories about “Bandera’s men” are fictions that disappear at the first minute of contact with reality. “I saw people just like us. And I realized who the occupiers really are,” he says. This is not a story of justification. This is the testimony of a man who found himself inside the Russian war machine and saw how it grinds its citizens. It promises millions, but in return gives a helmet, a machine gun, and a death sentence. This is a warning to those who are still thinking about whether it is worth signing up for a contract in the Russian army.
