In this episode of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Sean Reardon begins with a reminder about the upcoming Invitation Nights: Sip & Shop throughout downtown (on Friday nights, 12/9 & 12/16), Santa’s Workshop, sponsored by Newburyport’s Horticultural Society, at Brown Square (Friday – Sunday, 12/9 - 11, 12/16 – 12/18) and the Nonprofit Pop-Up Park (Friday – Sunday, 12/9 – 12/11, 12/16 – 12/18). He reminds us again that Newburyport Youth Services and the Newburyport Council on Aging are once again reaching out to the community to facilitate neighbors helping neighbors with the Snow Angels Program. Snow Angels is a voluntary snow removal service for senior citizens and persons with physical disabilities. More information can be found here: https://newburyportyouthservices.com/.... Plans for Mayor Reardon’s State of the City are underway. This event will take place at the City Hall Auditorium on the evening of Wednesday, January 25th, 2023. There will be an awards component that will highlight the great people of Newburyport and the work being done here. The City will host a meeting with National Grid on Tuesday, December 13th at 6 p.m. at the City Hall Auditorium to go over details of utility work that will be taking place on State and Middle Streets starting in January. Abutting residents will be receiving information in the mail from National Grid in the coming weeks about the work and what to expect. This public meeting will offer the opportunity to learn more about what will be going on and to ask questions. The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) will begin meeting soon to review applications for eligible projects in the areas of open space, recreation, affordable housing, and historic preservation. Community members have until December 16th to apply, and the application can be found on the CPC’s website here: https://www.cityofnewburyport.com/com....
