Docker volumes are created from a location on the host system or from another container, and can be mounted in a Docker container to store data. Data stored in a Docker volume persists even if the Docker container is deleted or recreated, allowing the data to survive the ephemeral life of the container. Docker volumes can be managed using the Docker command line or via Docker container management tools such as Docker Compose or Kubernetes. They are commonly used to store application data, configuration files, log files, and other data that needs to be retained even after the container is terminated.
