Review: Helmut Walcha--The Phantom of the Organ's Complete Archiv Recordings
Perpetually issued and reissued, here at last is the complete Archiv legacy of Helmut Walcha is a single box (32 discs). You get two sets of the Bach organ works (mono and stereo) plus The Art of Fugue, The Well-Tempered Clavier (on harpsichord), the violin sonatas, and three discs of early German organ music. The performances, on the organ at least, have been iconic readings of this great music since the late 1940s, and so they remain today. Enough said. You will know if you need this.
