James the Cat | The ITV Favourite with one of the Catchiest Theme Tunes 🎶

“🎵 My name’s James, James the Cat… I’ve had fame, money and all that… 🎵” For many children growing up in the eighties and nineties, James the Cat was an unforgettable part of the day. First appearing on ITV in 1984, this charming animated series followed a rather pampered black-and-white cat who found himself living in the garden of the Cornerhouse alongside a wonderfully eccentric group of animal friends. Created by Kate Canning and produced by Grampian Television, the series introduced viewers to colourful characters including Rocky Rabbit, Mrs Lavender the snail, Citroen the French frog, Frieda the kangaroo and Dennis, the fire-breathing dragon. Narrated by Sean Arnold and later Alistair McGowan, the show mixed gentle humour with catchy songs and distinctive animation that made it stand out from other children’s programmes of the era.
