Exploring a Hidden Mountain Stream — Idaho Fly Fishing

I spent the day hiking and fly fishing along a remote mountain stream in Idaho, exploring new water and covering miles of creek through dense forest, burn scars, and steep mountain terrain. This trip was filmed entirely in a POV style to capture the full experience of exploring and fishing small backcountry streams in the spring. The morning started warm and sunny, but conditions changed fast when a cold front rolled in and turned the afternoon into a snowstorm. Between changing weather, hiking along the creek, and searching for good water, this trip became more about exploration and adventure than just catching fish. Most of the fishing was done using streamers and nymphs while working through deeper runs, pockets, and seams along the creek. While I didn’t find any trout this time around, the stream produced plenty of whitefish and still made for a memorable day exploring one of the prettiest mountain creeks I’ve spent time on. In past seasons, this same creek has held rainbow trout and bull trout, which is part of what keeps bringing me back to explore it. This video is a mix of fly fishing, hiking, scouting new water, and experiencing the unpredictable conditions that come with spending time in Idaho’s backcountry during spring runoff season.
