Empowering Multilingual Learners through Fair and Interactive Assessment by Ee Nwe Saung

Short Overview: This workshop focuses on how teachers can use fair and interactive assessment to support multilingual learners in the classroom. Many students come from different language backgrounds and may not be able to show their true understanding through written exams alone. This session introduces practical assessment methods such as oral activities, projects, portfolios, and classroom observation. Teachers will learn how to use multiple assessment approaches to empower students, build confidence, and improve learning outcomes. Bio: Ee New Saung is a graduate student in Curriculum and Instruction at @Northern Illinois University, specializing in bilingual and multilingual education. She has nearly six years of experience as an English teacher. She is passionate about supporting minority and multilingual learners and promoting equitable access to education. She has been admitted to the PhD program in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of @Wisconsin–Madison
