5 Objects Catholics Should Remove From Their Homes
Can ordinary objects in your home disturb your spiritual peace? In this episode from Heralds Prayer Network, we look at 5 things in your home that can open the door to evil — not because objects have power by themselves, but because what we keep, watch, use, or tolerate can influence the spiritual atmosphere of our home. Many families struggle with restlessness, arguments, lack of prayer, impurity, distraction, or a heaviness that seems to enter daily life. Sometimes, the first step is simple: look honestly at what is inside the home and ask whether it helps bring the family closer to God. In this video, we discuss: • Objects bought through vanity, pride, or envy • Superstitious items, lucky charms, crystals, or pagan symbols • Homes lacking sacred signs such as a crucifix or image of Our Lady • Sinful entertainment, impure content, and anti-Catholic media • Good things used without moderation, such as food, alcohol, phones, or screens Your home is meant to be a place of prayer, peace, purity, charity, and protection under God’s grace. The goal is not fear or superstition, but conversion, discernment, and the desire to welcome Jesus and Mary more fully into family life. The devil often works through subtle disorder: vanity, impurity, superstition, distraction, immoderation, and spiritual laziness. But God’s grace is stronger. Through prayer, confession, the sacraments, sacramentals, devotion to Our Lady, and the presence of holy images, a Catholic home can become a true fortress of faith. If you want to protect your family spiritually, begin by looking honestly at your home, your habits, your media, and your attachments. Remove what leads away from God. Keep what helps you pray.
