Jon Gnarr about his experience of being a Mayor of Reykjavik. 16th YES Annual Meeting
Icelandic comedian, writer, and Mayor of Reykjavik (2010-2014), Jon Gnarr, described how his working experience as a democratically elected official changed his attitude towards politicians: his opinion moved from prejudice to understanding. He suggested that there should be more support of artists and comedians entering the political world. Jon Gnarr argued that people in this field hold great knowledge and talent, and are able to be serious even if they usually aim for humour.
