Because we visited during the off-peak season (April), the parking office was closed (free parking! 🙌) and we had the serene forest paths practically to ourselves. For an entrance fee of literally €1 for both of us (100 Lek), we stood above a crystal-clear volcanic spring over 50 meters deep that looks exactly like a colossal, glowing iris. We wrap up our epic journey by driving up to Lekursi Castle to catch a legendary sunset over the entire city of Sarandë. Even though the castle restaurant was closed for the season, sitting on the historic stone walls as the city lights turned on was the perfect final footprint for our trip.
