The COE is an important program in the specialty coffee sector that aims to identify the best coffees from around the world through a rigorous selection process, culminating in a global auction. Under his leadership, the Cup of Excellence program continued to grow, helping many coffee farmers gain recognition and access to high-end markets. He has also been involved in various aspects of coffee quality, from sourcing and education to fostering sustainability in coffee production, working with companies such Allegro Coffee Company/Whole Foods Market, illycaffè USA, Stumptown Coffee Roasters and Enveritas, a non-profit organization committed to ending poverty in the coffee supply chain. He also served on the SCA Sustainability Council and Roasters Guild EC and is a certified Q-Arabica Grader with CQI, having cupped thousands of coffees for quality control.
