Countries Ranked by Highest Point Above Sea Level

Some countries are flat. Others reach into the highest mountains on Earth. This ranking board compares countries by the elevation of their highest land point. This ranking board compares countries by their highest land-surface elevation point, measured in meters above sea level. The board is limited to countries whose national high point is at least 3,500 meters, including China and Nepal with Mount Everest, Pakistan with K2, Argentina with Aconcagua, the United States with Denali, Tanzania with Kilimanjaro, Russia with Mount Elbrus, Peru with Huascarán, and many more mountain countries. The metric is the highest point in each country — not average elevation, mountain count, tallest building, land area, population, tourism, or total mountain range size. Shared peaks, disputed high points, survey differences, and de facto / de jure geography can affect how some entries are labeled, but the board uses common public-reference names and meter values for the latest compiled 2026 snapshot.
