She is born in 1951 in Damascus, Syria and educated in Architecture at the universities of Beirut and Michigan. Between 1991 and 1993 she was a member of the Palestinian peace delegation in Washington. She is the director of the Centre for the Conservation of Palestinian Architectural Heritage and the author of several books. Suad Amiry became a writer by accident, but by nature she is a true story teller. She tells us about the human side of the occupation, the daily life of Palestinians that live under the scrutiny and control of the state of Israel. To be able to write, all that is needed is to have a story to tell, and Amiry tells us the story of millions of people that one day found their lives usurped, while she reflects on the conflict existing in the region—a conflict that is essentially about territorial control. A conflict that irremediably divides two peoples forced to become neighbours by our recent collective history. She revives the history and culture of the Palestinians through the story of her family. Her books evoke memories of Palestine while lighting the way forward. Original title: Thinking Existenz - Suad Amiry 2013 © Licensed by First Hand Films #palestine #israel #culture
