Laax: 5 Reasons to Visit + Layout & Sample Slopes

Laax, Switzerland is a top ski resort for skiers and snowboarders who like freeriding and freestyle. It also has extensive terrain for intermediates. Here are 5 reasons to visit: [0:45 - 1:35] 1) Snow Parks: Laax has multiple parks with 90 obstacles and the largest halfpipe in the world. A magnet for freestyle skiers and snowboarders in Europe. [1:35 - 5:19] 2) Marked Freeride Slopes: Laax embraces freeriding so much that it marks freeride slopes, with avalanche risk signs. These slopes may not be much different than ski routes in Austria or yellow slopes in Switzerland, but it's great to see a resort cater to this market. [5:19-6:42] 3) The Galaaxy Mountain Station and Hostel: A great option for those excited about the freestyle theme at Laax who want a unique experience. Vinyl records and alien statues in the cafeteria, you can stay on the mountain to increase snow time. [6:42-8:51] 4) The Base Stations: I stayed at Laax Base Station. It's smaller than than many other resorts, but very modern and chic, with the essentials. But no typical European crazy apres-ski. [11:58-12:20] 5) On Mountain Food: Laax has a great variety of on-mountain lunch options. [14:00-14:58] Reasons Not To Visit? Laaax has a lower elevation than many major European resorts. Snow quality may not be as good as other resorts. It's also more expensive than many European resorts.
