Explore the Beauty & Potential of Tiko, Fako Division of Cameroon.
Tiko, originally called ‘Keka’ by the Bakweris, is a town and important port area in Fako Division, South West region of Cameroon. It is situated along the Bimbia River at the Gulf of Guinea, 12miles (19km) east of Limbe (formerly Victoria). Keka now called Tiko was found by a hunter from Buea. The original settlers were the Bakweris from Bwenga, the Mongo and Duala people who were fishermen. The settlement grew as a market town for Duala (or Douala) fishermen, Bakweri (Kpwe people) farmers and hunters from Molyko, Bwenga, Bulu and Bokov. Tiko means “exchange” in the Bakweri dialect.
