An Opportunity to Contribute to Islamic Psychology via ISIP Malaysia | Dr. Alizi Alias | Webinar 1

ISIP Malaysia hosted one of its first webinars, with Dr. Alizi Alias. Dr. Alizi is a freelance Consultant Organizational Psychologist and part-time lecturer at UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak, Ipoh. He is a former Council Member of the Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA) and a panel assessor of the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). He also advises several organisations including ISIP Malaysia. This one-hour webinar addresses a fundamental yet often misunderstood question: Must one be a psychologist in order to contribute meaningfully to Islamic Psychology? Grounded in the reality that modern psychology is inherently multidisciplinary; intersecting with fields such as biology, medicine, education, sociology, anthropology, law, engineering, and theology, the session clarifies that contribution does not require claiming psychological expertise or practising beyond one’s competence. Instead, meaningful contribution rests on intellectual humility, ethical clarity, respect for disciplinary boundaries, and responsible integration of revelation, reason, and science. The webinar invites educators, scholars, practitioners, and the wider public to explore how Islamic Psychology can be strengthened through collaborative, well-defined, and ethically grounded contributions; without diluting the discipline or misrepresenting professional roles.
