Polizei schützt G7-Außenmininstertreffen - Spezialeinheiten im Einsatz in Münster am 03./04.11.22

A G7 foreign ministers' meeting took place in Münster on November 3-4, 2022. On the afternoon of November 3, the participants were escorted from Münster/Osnabrück Airport to the historic town hall. Only the German and American foreign ministers were already in the city and were transported from elsewhere. The Americans' VIP escort was the largest. Approximately 3,500 officers from several state police forces, the Federal Police, and the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) were deployed. This included several special units. For example, precision marksmen monitored the area around the historic town hall. The Federal Police's evidence collection and arrest unit was also deployed. At approximately 4:15 p.m., a suspicious suitcase was discovered at Servatiiplatz. At least one bomb-sniffing dog and a bomb disposal team examined it. The area was cordoned off until the all-clear was given at approximately 4:53 p.m. The suitcase contained only clothing. At the same time, a person was checked on Ludgeristraße because of the suitcase. After their identity was established, they were released. Around 7:15 p.m., following a demonstration, approximately 20 protesters broke through a police cordon and fled as a group. They were cornered by the Wuppertal Evidence Collection and Arrest Unit and held against a building wall. After about an hour, their identities were established, they were issued with a dispersal order, and allowed to leave.
