The Man Who Made Karate Fly – Christophe Pinna’s Dynamic Style
Christophe Pinna, born March 18, 1968, in Nice, France, is a 7th‑dan Shotokan karateka, multiple World and European Champion, and long‑time member of the French national team. He started martial arts remarkably early—beginning with taekwondo at age five, before dedicating himself fully to karate, where his agility, flexibility, and explosive speed found their true home. Pinna became famous for his dynamic kumite (sparring) style: blindingly fast attacks, acrobatic kicks, and an unwavering fighting intensity. He earned four World Championship medals and six European titles, establishing himself as one of the most decorated and feared competitors of his era. His kicking repertoire—particularly high spinning and jumping techniques—was practically cinematic, blending technical sharpness with theatrical vigor.
