A high-rise building under construction in midtown Manhattan is in danger of partial collapse after workers discovered structural columns and steel beams had buckled on the 21st floor. The former Pfizer Pharmaceuticals world headquarters, currently being converted into apartments, has entire floors sagging and appears to have a slight lean. Multiple buildings including hotels, schools and restaurants have been evacuated while emergency stabilisation works are underway, expected to take several days.
