Deep-sea Squids of Antarctica!

During Expedition Antarctica we documented a trio of incredible cephalopods: Moratoothopsis longimana — Not much is known about this deep-sea species, but its name hints at its unusually long arms. Likely a midwater hunter, it’s a rare observation. Slosarczykovia circumantarctica — A pelagic squid that lives in the cold circumpolar waters of the Antarctic. It’s one of the few cephalopods adapted to life in this frigid, nutrient-rich environment. Alluroteuthis antarcticus — An Antarctic species known for its streamlined body and powerful swimming. We map, we film, we sample and we share .... so we can all learn about these regions and what lies beneath the surface.
