Bayside Interview from Slam Dunk Festival 2026
@baysideofficial Reveal Their Most Ambitious Album Yet And Why They’re Putting More Pressure On Themselves Than Ever. Backstage at Slam Dunk Festival, Bayside were in high spirits, soaking up the rare sunshine and looking ahead to a packed year of touring. With a US run alongside Taking Back Sunday just around the corner, the band admitted they are further along with a new album than fans might realise. A significant portion of the record is already written and recorded, with plans to finish it by the end of the summer and release new music in early 2027. Rather than rushing the process, Bayside are deliberately spending more time than ever writing, revising and demoing songs, creating a larger pool of material before selecting only the strongest tracks. The challenge, they explained, is finding new ways to evolve while still sounding unmistakably like Bayside, a balancing act they believe is harder than simply reinventing themselves completely. The band also opened up about their creative process, with ideas often beginning as concepts before a single note is played. Frontman Anthony Raneri explained that inspiration comes from listening to music and imagining how a particular feeling, structure or musical idea could be transformed into a Bayside song before it is developed further with the rest of the band. With nine studio albums already behind them, setlist decisions have become increasingly difficult, but they still aim to balance fan favourites, newer material and deeper cuts from their catalogue. Looking ahead, the group are excited to hit the road with longtime friends Taking Back Sunday, a tour that will take them to many places they have rarely played before and keep things fresh after more than two decades together.
