Autodesk Inventor Tutorial #46 – Insert Constraint in Assembly Mode In this Autodesk Inventor tutorial, we continue building on assembly constraints by introducing a highly efficient and commonly used method: the Insert Constraint. Insert constraints are designed to simplify the process of aligning and positioning cylindrical components—such as shafts, pins, and holes—within an assembly. In this video, we create simple parts from scratch, bring them into Assembly Mode, and use insert constraints to reduce the number of steps required compared to traditional Mate and Flush constraints. This lesson is especially useful for real-world mechanical designs where components need to be aligned concentrically and positioned accurately with minimal effort. What You’ll Learn in This Video: What insert constraints are and how they differ from Mate and Flush constraints Creating a polygon-based component in Part Mode Understanding how to fully constrain a sketch using dimensions and constraints Identifying under-constrained sketches and fixing rotational degrees of freedom Using construction geometry and vertical constraints to stabilize sketches Creating a second component (shaft/rod) using simple extrusion Copying and pasting components into Assembly Mode Understanding grounded components in assemblies Using the Place Component and drag-and-drop methods Applying Insert Constraint to align cylindrical features Selecting hole axes and shaft axes for proper constraint definition Understanding aligned vs opposed solutions in insert constraints Using toggle options to control component positioning Comparing insert constraint efficiency vs multiple Mate/Flush constraints Applying constraints to multiple instances of the same component Assigning appearances/colors for better visual clarity Identifying unconstrained degrees of freedom in assemblies Using additional Flush constraints to fully define motion Building a clean, efficient, and controlled assembly with minimal constraints This video highlights how to simplify assemblies by reducing constraint count while maintaining full control—an essential skill when working with complex mechanical systems in Autodesk Inventor. 📺 Watch the full Autodesk Inventor Tutorial Playlist here:    • 1 - Tutorial Introduction | Autodesk Inven...   Looking for expert help with product design, CAD modeling, or prototype development?
