UN SUBLIME JARDIN INSPIRÉ DU JAPON EN BRETAGNE

After introducing you to the "western" part of the Botanical Garden of Upper Brittany in a previous video    • UN MAGNIFIQUE JARDIN D’ÉVASION EN HAUTE BR...   ; Patrick Mioulane meets up with Alain Jouno, the owner of the garden, for an escapist tour of the "eastern" part of this exceptional garden. After discussing the complexity of the work carried out 25 years ago to transform a wasteland into a little paradise, our guides explain some of the symbolic aspects of Japanese gardens: the crane, the turtle, and Mount Horai of the Eight Immortals. They also discuss the role of stones, the dry river, the bridge, and the famous Japanese stepping stones, characteristic of tea house gardens. Also on the menu: ablutions in the tsukubai, discovery of the subtlety of Karesansui, and the elegance of the stone lantern (Shizen Toro). In this landscape punctuated by scenes of utter beauty, we also discover interesting plants such as the Chilean fire tree (Embothrium coccineum), superb Black Sea rhododendrons (Rhododendron ponticum), Japanese maples (Acer palmatum) of course, the Japanese azalea, the Japanese holly (Ilex crenata), and the Scleranthus, which here replaces the moss. A most exotic report, filmed just a few kilometers from Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine), which should give you an irresistible desire to visit this truly exceptional garden.
