Nigeria’s PFIPC controversy continues to raise questions over budget oversight, government accountability and the processes behind public spending. President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, says the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council is fictitious, despite the agency appearing in the 2026 Appropriation Act with ₦1.3 billion allocated for salaries, research and investment summit logistics. Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is at the centre of the controversy, insists the agency exists, citing official structures and financial records, while the Presidency maintains that the claims emerged after his police bail.
