German General Rommel was defending this line. American General Eisenhower was the supreme commander of the allied forces. While the British commander, General Montgomery, led the ground troops. The targeted beaches were called Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. But the Germans put up a heavy resistance.
