FISC Talks: Sigrid Netherer (BOKU University Vienna) on bark beetles, fungi and forest stress.
Lecture by Sigrid Netherer (BOKU University, Vienna, Austria) on bark beetles, fungi and forest stress. The talk was held on Friday, 15 May 2026, at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, as part of the FISC Talks series. For those who could not attend, the recording of the lecture is available in this video. Climate change promotes bark beetle outbreaks in conifer forests, and the Norway spruce – Ips typographus system in Eurasia is particularly well studied. Field experiments and modelling approaches help to better understand this important pathosystem and to develop risk assessment and early warning frameworks that support timely bark beetle control measures.
