Chapter 10 of the Book of Acts recounts an important event in the history of Christianity. In it, the Roman centurion Cornelius, a devout man, receives a vision from an angel of God who tells him to send messengers to the city of Joppa and bring the apostle Peter to him. Meanwhile, Peter has a vision in which God tells him not to consider unclean the foods that had been forbidden to the Jews. When Cornelius' messengers arrive in Joppa, Peter understands that the vision he had was not just about food, but about people. He accompanies them to Cornelius' house and there preaches the gospel to him and his family. While Peter is still speaking, the Holy Spirit descends upon all those present, Jews and Gentiles, confirming that salvation is for all who believe, regardless of their origin. This episode is a turning point in the history of Christianity, showing that Jesus' message is for all people, not just for the Jews. He also represents an overcoming of the cultural and religious barriers that existed at the time, since Peter, a Jew, visits the house of Cornelius, a Gentile, something that would have been unthinkable at that time.
