Session 48 - Wealth and Value Sharing as a Solution to Inequalities

In a context marked by persistent inequalities, the sharing of value within companies has become a central issue. Various mechanisms enable employees to benefit from company performance and ownership. In theory, these initiatives support purchasing power, encourage savings, and help reduce income disparities. Companies also contribute to employment, working conditions, and economic development. However, their impact remains limited. Access to these mechanisms is unequal, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and they primarily benefit the most stable employees, leaving the most vulnerable workers behind. Value sharing therefore appears to be a complementary tool that must be integrated into a broader strategy aimed at reducing inequalities. The key question is therefore: how can private initiatives and public policies be better coordinated to strengthen their effectiveness? Can value sharing genuinely help reduce inequalities, or does it remain a marginal solution? Finally, can the fight against poverty rely on businesses, or does it require a deeper transformation of economic and social models? Speakers: Estelle SAUVAT, President, Groupe Alpha. Karim EL AYNAOUI, Executive President, Policy Center for the New South. Jacques LE PAPE, Chairman, CCR. Benjamin PEDRINI, Chief Executive Officer, Epsor. Carlos VIEIRA, President, Caixa Econômica Federal. Moderator: Valérie HACOT, Head of the Economics Department, Libération. Coordinator: Alexandra ROULET, Member of the Cercle des économistes.
