As a part of our everything you need to know before pre-med series, we are super excited to help prospective medical professionals gain the insight they need when making program selections and choosing the right path for their own medical journey. In this video, we will be dissecting London, Ontario’s very own Western University and their medical sciences program. Like other schools in Canada and across Ontario, the Medical Sciences program is a "first-entry" program into the Faculty of Science at Western. However, we need to preface this video by stating that admission to Medical Sciences is not admission to the Bachelor of Medical Sciences Program. Students are registered as Medical Sciences students in Years 1 and 2, and apply to the Bachelor of Medical Sciences Program when they enter Year 3. Entry into the Bachelor of Medical Sciences Program is competitive and limited but admission is assured for Medical Sciences 2 students who achieve a minimum average of 80%, with no mark less than 60%, in the Year 2 courses that are specific to the student's module of interest for Year 3 Bachelor of Medical Sciences. The program also includes an honors specialization option alongside a major declaration option. Now with that all in mind, let’s take a look at some of the admission requirements for the medical sciences program at Western.
