Exploring a Lost Civil War Battlefield and Texas's Sunken Atlantis!

Found a Lost Confederate Fort & Civil War Trenches on a Remote Texas Island (Untouched for 160 Years) #civilwarhistory #abandonedplaces #ghosttown A few miles off the coast of Texas lies Matagorda Island, a forgotten land mass that holds deep military secrets and lost American history. In this episode, we depart from our usual state lists to take you on a targeted, boots-on-the-ground historical adventure. Using satellite mapping, we located strange zigzagging anomalies deep in the island's interior swamps. Our expedition successfully tracked down these lines on foot, confirming they are perfectly preserved, 160-year-old Civil War trenches and artillery placements built by Confederate soldiers in 1863 to defend Fort Esperanza from the Union Navy. While documenting the overgrown battle lines, we also found troubling signs of illegal relic hunting and clandestine digging inside these historic earthworks. From there, we took our boats and drones into the shallow, clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico to search for the sunken ghost town of Saluria. Founded in the 1840s, this bustling town was entirely swept into the sea by a ferocious hurricane in 1875. Our drone footage captured stunning, straight geometric lines in the underwater seaweed that closely resemble old building foundations and city streets. Finally, we swam out to a crumbling, abandoned 1800s Coast Guard lifeboat station that is still standing against the elements, capturing a rare look inside a decaying piece of maritime history. What we uncovered during this island exploration: The abandoned ruins of the Cold War era Matagorda Island Air Force Base. Overgrown Confederate trench lines stretch from one side of the island to the other. Evidence of illegal looters digging for historical artifacts in protected military earthworks. The underwater coordinates and visible grid lines of the lost sunken city of Saluria. The historical background of the 9-foot turf walls of Fort Esperanza before they eroded into the sea. A look inside the rooms, old tilework, and structure of the abandoned 19th-century Coast Guard station. ✅CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 1:30 Matagorda Island Air Force Base 1:59 Abandoned Civil War Trenches 6:03 Matagorda Island Beach 6:42 Fort Esperanza and Ghost Town of Saluria 10:00 Abandoned Coast Guard Station on Matagorda Island 13:11 Conclusion If you enjoy exploring abandoned places, hidden gems, and forgotten history, make sure to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts in the comments. ✅ Special thanks to: Sky Walk Views:    / @skywalkviews   ✅ Subscribe To The Channel For More Videos:    / @beyond_civilization   ✅ Stay Connected With Me: 👉 Instagram:   / beyond_civilization   👉 TikTok:   / beyond_civilization   📩 For business inquiries: [email protected] ============================== ✅ Other Videos You Might Be Interested In Watching: 👉    • Top 10 Texas Forgotten Mansions – Luxury H...   👉    • Top 10 Natural Wonders in Texas That Don’t...   👉    • Exploring Texas' Top 7 Abandoned Mines!   👉    • Inside the Dead Zone: Plymouth Montserrat ...   👉    • Exploring Top 10 Texas’ Most Secret Abando...   ============================= Music Credits: Music | "Friday" by LiQWYD Watch: • LiQWYD - Friday [Official] License: https://www.liqwydmusic.com/how-to-use Download/Stream: https://hypeddit.com/liqwyd/friday All other tracks are from Epidemic Sounds.
