Totalitarismo total: Pedro Salazar. La UNAM responde 1356
Dr. Pedro Salazar Ugarte from the Institute of Legal Research at UNAM joins us on "UNAM Responds" to discuss his book, "Total Totalitarianism: The Reconfiguration of Power in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." He explores how AI is currently linked to an unprecedented concentration of political, economic, and ideological power, as the large technology companies developing it possess resources and influence never before seen in history. This legal expert, who has explored the use of AI, addresses five concerns in this edition, each leading to a chapter titled "Problems." The first chapter, dedicated to power, examines AI's capacity to learn, generate autonomous responses, and become increasingly integrated into various aspects of daily life, as well as the potential for surveillance and control that may arise within societies. The second chapter addresses responsibility, reflecting on who should bear the consequences of potential errors or catastrophes caused by decisions made by autonomous artificial intelligence systems. It also underscores the importance of establishing ethical codes and limits for the development and use of these technologies. The Problem of Creativity stems from the fact that artificial intelligence is capable of writing, composing music, generating images, and producing works of art, which has opened new debates on copyright and intellectual property, with an emphasis on Autonomous Cognitive Agents (ACAs) and Generative AI. The chapter on war expresses concern about the use of autonomous weaponry in current armed conflicts and its catastrophic consequences, concluding with a reflection on love. It examines how people are beginning to form emotional bonds with artificial intelligences that simulate affection and companionship, while simultaneously collecting personal information that can later be used for commercial purposes. The book, Total Totalitarianism, concludes by stating that, in addition to providing an in-depth analysis, it aims to shed light on a complex phenomenon that must be considered in all spheres. The National Library presents the exhibition "We're Going to the World Cup!" "Snippets of the World Cup Dream in Mexico," an exhibition that recounts the sporting events of this nature that have been hosted by our country, based on magazines and newspapers from the archives, can be visited until July. Dr. Carlos Rosales discusses dengue fever, how it spreads, and refers to an alternative that can help control it. Our Gulf of Mexico section is dedicated to "The Young Woman of Amajac," an archaeological piece that illustrates the participation of women in the political history of Mesoamerica.
