SEJA O QUE DEUS QUISER, DECISÃO ESTÁ TOMADA

It's been 13 months living in my Doblo campervan and on the road. In 1 year and 1 month, there have been many lessons learned, many disappointments, many joys, many encounters, and many farewells. Since leaving my permanent home in Campinas, São Paulo, I had in mind to lead a more balanced life, take better care of my health, and especially make healthier food choices. It was all a plan that went down the drain as soon as I started meeting the first people. No, I'm not blaming anyone! I just want to say that it's very difficult to stick to a purpose when everyone around you is eating other things. The taste and smell of food always bring back fond memories, which is why it's so hard to change that habit. And believe me, I have a lot of willpower; I even quit smoking. And to break that bad habit of more than 3 decades required a lot of willpower from me. Now, sitting at the table with friends and eating my healthy lunchbox is very much a treat. First, everyone looks at me like I'm an alien, others openly criticize me using catchphrases like "life is too short not to eat sugar," eating it will make it even shorter, lol. Anyway, after 13 months here, I'm redoing my dietary re-education and socializing less. Because if there's one thing this retired crowd, who live in motorhomes, knows how to do, it's get-togethers with lots of barbecues, lunches and dinners, washed down with plenty of beer and caipirinhas. Even without money to drink beer, if I'm near the group, I quickly make friends and before I know it I'm in the circle, telling travel stories, drinking beer and eating. Today I apologized to a couple I met, super cool people, but I practically ran away from them because a round of beer was about to start. Here I am reshaping my life and starting over, making good food and exercise choices again. How long will I be able to eat eggs, lol. We need protein!
