[ 🎤 CONFÉRENCE ] Les Gaulois du Midi face à la romanité

By Dominique Garcia, archaeologist, historian, and president of Inrap (National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research) With the Pont du Gard and Heritage Association The Gauls are related to Celtic groups that have been established in our regions since at least the beginning of the Bronze Age. The originality of their culture is thought to have arisen from interactions with Etruscan, Greek, and then Roman societies, which frequented these areas from the 7th century BC onward. In this sense, Gaul constitutes a peninsula that has absorbed cultural influences from various horizons: northern, continental, and Mediterranean. This lecture will present the results of the latest major discoveries in Celtic archaeology, attempting to shed light on the Gauls' "entry into history."
