Putting our skills and fitness to the test in Phoenix (Hawes Trails)

If we want to be as prepared as possible for a five day mountain bike stage race in March, we need to get our tires on dirt a bit more frequently than we usually do in January. And, well, let’s be real, long rides are more fun when it’s 70 degrees and sunny. So, when our sponsor Ari Bikes asked if we wanted to go to Phoenix for a photoshoot, we were all in. And we decided to extend our trip beyond the photoshoot to do some fun (and yes, long) rides. We’ve mapped out a 32 mile loop at the Hawes trail system that we hope will take us about four hours and hits some local favorite trails like Big Sister, Red Mountain Rush, High Ridge and Boulderdash. We’ll also be doing 3 laps up the popular Alpe d’Huez climb for a total of 4300 feet of climbing.
