What happens when AI avatars start running in elections and even occupying government positions? In 2024, a British entrepreneur created an AI avatar to run in the UK's national elections. In 2025, Albania appointed the world's first AI-generated minister to oversee public tenders. In March 2026, Gaitana ran for a seat in the Colombian Congress with a proposal to make decisions based on voter consensus via blockchain. Meanwhile, Brazil and other countries are still debating how to regulate deepfakes and AI-generated content in elections. In this episode, Iuri Campos talks with Francieli de Campos, an electoral lawyer, AI specialist from the University of Salamanca, and coordinator of the postgraduate program in Electoral Law at FMP-RS, about the impacts of artificial intelligence on politics, the cases already happening around the world, and the challenges of public decision-making in a scenario increasingly influenced by algorithms.
