100+ years old Shakuntala शकुंतला NARROW GAUGE train Journey Compilation

2 ft 6 in (762 mm) Narrow Gauge line between Murtizapur (MZR) & Achalpur (ELP) was constructed in December 1913 by the former Great Indian Peninsula Railway (GIPR) Company for a Branch Line company called the Central Provinces Railway (CPR). On termination of the contracts with the former GIPR Company, the line was brought under direct state management from July 1925. Although, known as the CPR, it was grouped in 1952 under the Central Railway (CR). This NG passenger with just 3 coaches travels 76 Kms to reach Achalpur from Murtizapur Jn. in one direction & takes fro 3.5 to 5 hours with average speed of 21 Km/h. The route has 10 small stations between 2 end points without any signaling system, as this is the only train that runs on this route, with no crossing or overtakes. There is one more NG Passenger train that runs between Murtizapur Jn. & Yavatmal. The NG passenger is powered by ZDM4A class diesel locomotives homed at Murtizapur (MZR) diesel loco shed of Central Railways zone of Indian Railway. Many of these locomotives were based at Kurduwadi (KWV) NG diesel shed. The coaches used for this train were originally used on Miraj-Kurduwadi NG section which is no more in operation now. The train sometimes have to slow down at 5 Km/h of speed to cross small bridges over the rivers on the way. Hence, it becomes boring & tests patience of the commuters. The best time to travel in this train is during monsoon or in peak winter. That way, one can cherish the amazing nature here & indulge in some adventure away from the city life. The train crosses few rivers like Purna river & Chandrabhaga river. It sometimes runs at such a low speed that you can jump off the running train, run ahead of the train, overtake it & again hop back in... it runs that slow :) During my trip, I boarded 52137 passenger from Murtizapur Jn. at 7:15 AM & got down at a small deserted station called Naubagh with no platforms & facilities. Later, I boarded the same train as 52138 to reach Murtizapur Jn. The locomotive assigned was ZDM4A numbered #200 homed at MZR DLS.
